Searching for the World’s Best Margarita recipe? You may be surprised to learn that it was created right here in Stowe Vermont by the infamous Porter Thorndike. Over time he has perfected the best tasting Margarita I have ever sampled…his secret to success, freshly squeezed limes and LOTS of them…it is even rumored that he can forgo the gym because juicing limes for these tasty beverages keeps his biceps ripped. So without further ado here is the recipe for the WORLD’S BEST MARGARITA, and if you missed last year’s post I am also going to let you in on a lil’ secret of my own HOLY GUACAMOLE| A RECIPE SO GOOD YOUR GUESTS WILL WEEPThe key to the margarita mix are the proportions.
6oz Lime Juice (1 part fresh squeezed lime juice)
4oz Cointreau (.67 part Cointreau)
8oz Patron Tequila (1.33 part tequila)
1oz Agave Nectar (.2 part agave nectar)
Smoked Salt for rim
1 chopped Habanero or Jalapeno (if you like it hot)
You will generally get 1-1.5 ounces of lime juice per lime, the smoother the skin of the lime the better. You want to squeeze two limes per number or margaritas you want. Once I see how many ounces of lime juice I have I just do a quick calculation of 2/3 of that amount of Cointreau and then double that amount for the tequila. So if I have 6 ounces of lime juice then I want 4 ounces of Cointreau, 8 ounces of tequila and about an ounce of agave, I use a smoked salt rim and a slice of habanero or Jalapenos to finish. With Cinco de Mayo around the corner I also had the re-share the Best Guacamole recipe with you all. Since making this recipe for the first time a year ago our friends have consistently requested we bring this app to accompany the famous margarita’s above. If you remember last year’s post this recipe is soooo good it will make your guests weep!
4 Ripe Avocados
2tbs diced onion
1/2 lime’s worth of zest + Juice of that lime
1 tsp Kosher Salt
1 diced jalapeno
2 Tomatoes seeded and diced
First Chop up the onion, and jalapeno, add the zest, and chop until minced. Toss this into a bowl and add the cut up Avocado. Add a little bit of the lime juice and mash with a whisk (the Whisk is specific, don’t you dare go using another utensil) until you get the right consistency. Only adding small amounts of lime juice at a time because if you add too much it will get too wet so go slow. Now don’t forget the salt (I did that once and it was terrible), add the diced tomatoes and you are good to go!This is the MOST delicious guacamole hands down. So to the dear women who shared this recipe with me, THANK YOU…get your tissues ready friends! 🙂If you try these recipes please let me know what you think in the comments below!
