meg-143It was Cinco de Mayo and we were responsible for bringing Guacamole to the party we were attending. I have never been great at recipes or cooking for that matter so as I stood in the produce section of our Shaw’s supermarket I pulled up pinterest and clicked on the Worlds Best Guacamole recipe. This was my usual go to for recipes and I didn’t think twice as I started to select my ingredients: 4 Avocados, Garlic, tomatoes….the women behind me forcefully interrupted  my train or thought:meg-134“Are YOU making Guacamole?” -Women

“Yes, I have no idea how to make it so I was just going off pintrest.” -Me

“No, no, you never want to add garlic to guacamole, that would just be terrible, here let me help. I have the BEST guacamole recipe, it is SO good your guests will weep. -Women

“Weep because it’s spicey?! Or Good????” -Me

“Oh it is the most delicious Guac you will ever taste, trust me…” -Women

“Do tell!?” (In my mind…only in Vermont would someone randomly watch me muddling over a Guac recipe and offer to help…in Boston people wouldn’t dare look you in the eye let alone barge in unannounced! -MeGuacamole Ingredients.jpg“So what you need is this:

4 Ripe Avocados

2tbs diced onion

1/2 lime’s worth of zest + Juice of that lime

1 tsp Kosher Salt

1 diced jalapeno

2 Tomatoes seeded and dicedGuacamole Recipe Onion JalapenoFirst Chop up the onion, and jalapeno, add the zest, and chop until minced. Toss this into a bowl and add the cut up Avocado. Add a little bit of the lime juice and mash with a whisk (she was specific on the Whisk, don’t you dare go using another utensil) until you get the right consistency. Only adding small amounts of lime juice at a time because if you add too much it will get too wet so go slow. Now don’t forget the salt (I did that once and it was no buano) and add the diced tomatoes and you are good to go!Guacamole Recipe 4Guacamole Recipe 2Guacamole RecipeNow mind you there was lots of dramatic miming of chopping and mashing going on as well as the full science of why this is the best recipe, and I ate up every second of it. As I went on to complete the rest of my shopping I could help but laugh to myself about the hysterical nature of this random interaction.

We (and by we, I mean my husband) made this Guac and it was truly tear worthy. The MOST delicious guacamole hands down. So to the dear women at the store who’s name I will never know, THANK YOU and to my friends at the party almost 3 months ago, at long last here is the recipe…get your tissues ready 🙂meg-152meg-148
