meg-68This is the third and final post relating to how we prepared for the birth of our second son. If you want to plan a celebration for Baby #2 that people will remember, and get downright giddy about, please skip the standard “Sprinkle” (aka mini Baby Shower) and read on.

People are often stumped on how to best celebrate when it comes to Baby #2. For the first child you need all this fancy gear for the baby; cue the traditional baby shower. By the time the second child rolls around you are wise to the situation and truly between hand-me-downs and a place to put the child to sleep you really don’t NEED anything new. So what is the best way to celebrate??meg-75As a mother pregnant with baby #2 what you truly need are three things: RELAXATION, TIME WITH GOOD FRIENDS, AND TIME AWAY FROM CHASING YOUR FIRST CHILD. And guess what?! All your fellow Mom friends need the EXACT SAME THING!meg-77Cue Mom’s Spa Day Celebration. When I was in my second trimester and feeling the best two of my closest childhood friends drove up to Vermont and we lined up daddy-daycare for an amazing afternoon of rest and relaxation at the⇒ Top Notch Resort and Spa. This celebration takes some coordination, childcare or daddy-daycare (thanks hun!), booking your treatments, and a lunch reservation because for me there is nothing more decadent then eating Brunch in a cozy robe. To keep costs manageable each person covered their own treatment, allowing people to select the treatment that fits their budget. The girls treated me to our lunch as a gift and celebration of Baby #2 on the way. After our treatments we spent the afternoon relaxing by the pools, swapping baby stories, reading magazines in the ladies lounge, and enjoying the random little pleasures like a quiet shower without anyone peeking their lil heads in or asking us if we are done already. As the mother of honor there was truly no greater gift then time spent with these two amazing women.meg-94meg-98meg-101Earlier this Spring we planned a similar celebration with the Stowe Moms to celebrate Emily and the birth of her daughter Zoe. We planned to do our spa day prior to Baby N’s arrival but she arrived a month early so we postponed until just before Emily went back to work for an extra special celebration. The thing that I loved the most about this celebration was the excitement from EVERYONE involved, I am not sure who was more excited…the mom to be, or all of the attendees…no one could wait for the day to arrive!! A final bonus of the Mom’s Spa Day Celebration is not having to awkwardly open a new set of burp rags in front of a crowd of people…a final gift unto itself! meg-86Tell me the last time you got this excited about a baby shower….Spa Day Celebrations are the way to go!!

If you missed the first two posts in the series here are the links, as you can probably tell at this point I am getting super nostalgic for my littlest one to turn 2 in ten short days:

As a working mother of two 'lil boys I am experienced in the work/life juggle, and fluent in construction vehicles. After a decade in Boston at New Balance, we moved to Vermont where I lead a portfolio of strategic coffee partners at Keurig. I cannot wait to share our outdoor adventures in Vermont sprinkled with some fun lessons in work/life integration, taking care of yourself, organization, and being a boy Mom.
