It has been fun getting your kids gear questions this winter so I figured I’d share my favorite Kids Winter Gear recommendation more broadly.

I have spent a lot of time and $ trying to find mittens that will stay on wiggly ‘lil hands.  I think my count of toddler/infant mittens was nearing a half dozen until I found the BEST PAIR of Toddler Mittens HANDS DOWN!! When my boys changed daycare this fall, these mittens were on the recommended gear list and they are GAME changers — I literally tell anyone and everyone!Stonz MittensThis is the first time I have found mittens that meet all of my (very basic) requirements:

  • Easy to put on, ie. no thumb holes
  • Stays on wiggly hands
  • Super Warm
  • Waterproof

Waterproof is the one that so many companies miss, infants and toddlers spend 80% of their time rolling around in the snow so if a mitten is not waterproof you end up with soggy mittens and COLD hands. These mittens are also super easy to get on, they look like funnels until you cinch them down, there are no thumb holes to wrestle with and they do not come off once you cinch the bungees.Infant_Blue Navy_PairSo there you have it, if you are in the market there is no better mitten for 0-2yr olds PERIOD. These would also make a great $30 gift for a bday, shower, etc.

My only regret is that I didn’t find these when Parker was little because they will absolutely stand up as a hand-me-down.

  1. Thanks for the advice on the mittens! I’ve been using a Patagonia pair and Beau just looks like he has giant lobster claws for hands do to those pesky thumb holes! I will be grabbing a pair of these soon. I miss you. 😘

    1. Ash- Thank you for being my first official Blog comment!! (You are in my milestone record!!) I love Patagonia for jackets but TOTALLY agree on the baby mittens…we had the same pair and they never fit our boys. Miss you too!! xo

    1. Katie- I hear that from so many people, AND I was in the same camp until 2 months ago when our daycare strongly suggested these– they are amazing!! Let me know what you think if you end up getting them and please spread the word to other MA Moms if you like them too!
